Harbor Tackle, West Ocean City, Md. Fishing Report for June 4, 2010

If you have not caught your striper from the surf, you may still have the opportunity to snag one. Fishermen from AI have taken stripers, black drum, blues, skates, rays, lots of sharks, some flounder and a few kingfish. The favorite baits have been fresh bunker and live peelers. The Rt. 50 Bridge, the Inlet, and the Oceanic Pier are producing stripers, blues, shad, tog, and flounder. This AM (Friday, June 4th) two of my customers caught over 30 stripers and kept 28, 29 30, 38 inch fish using live peelers. They also hooked up 15 tog and kept 4 in the 15 to 17 inch range. Stinky Beach produced a 22 and 20 inch flounder on Memorial Day using live minnows for bait. The tog and flounder fishing has been good this week. There has been good sea bass fishing over the ocean wrecks.

Congratulations to: John Wealand from Conestoga, Pa. for his 36 inch striper from AI. John was so excited with his first legal striper. He has been fishing Assateague for years and he finally hooked one. Also congratulations to our granddaughter for graduating from Pocomoke High School this week.

Harbor Tackle has fresh bunker, live bloodworms, live sand fleas, live green crabs, live eels, black saltys, live chowder clams, big live minnows, and live peelers.

Harbor Tackle, West Ocean City, Md. Fishing Report for June 11, 2010

In the surf there are plenty of sharks, a few blues, maybe a striper, and kings have just started to show. At the Rt. 50 Bridge, the Inlet, the Oceanic Pier blues, shad, some stripers, and flounder are showing. Some tog are still around. The number of flounder is getting better; however, the size is not. Flounder fishing was great in front of the old Shanty Town area, in front of Hoopers, and from the airport south.

Congratulations to: Bill Walsh, from Salisbury, with his 6 pound 20 ¾ inch flounder taken by the airport on live minnows.

Three to five foot sharks are showing in the surf along with kingfish, spot, rays and blues. The flounder catch has increased; however, for every keeper 20 to 50 undersized fish are caught. The Rt. 50 Bridge and the Inlet there are blues, shad, stripers and flounder.

Congratulations to: Tommy Smith of Naples, Florida with his 19 ¾ inch flounder taken from the head of the OC Harbor. Rob Atkins from Red Line, Pa was fishing from the Rt. 50 Bridge and hooked a 4 lb 4 oz 22 ½ inch flounder using a live minnow and a chartreuse Gulp 4 inch swimming mullet. Jere Putt of Lebanon, Pa landed a 24 inch 6 lb 4 oz flounder at the East Channel using a live minnow.
